Edge Insight mounting

I've been looking all around the forum, and I've seen some conversations about it, but can't find anything definite. I've decided to purchase an Edge Insight, but would like to have it mounted in the pillar instead of using the dash mount. Looking around, I've seen a pillar mount for the Edge Attitude, but none for the Insight. Does anyone know if the Insight will fit into the Attitude pillar mount? Or am I stuck with the dash mount?

I have a 2003 F-250 PSD, 2WD, LB, CC...

Thanks for any input!

Thanks bpounds...the pictures were especially helpful. And just to make sure, it looks like they are both in close proximity to each other, so the extension cable will NOT be needed correct?

Yes, they will be long enough. In fact, they were very generous with both cables. I had to roll and tie up quite a bit extra. Not enough to reach overhead, but plenty to reach the pillar.

I have both mounts. Currently I'm using the dash mount because it's easier to remove than the a-pillar mount, in case I need to make a dealer visit. However, once my warranty is up this coming December, I'll be using the pillar mount because it holds the unit closer to my driving line-of-site and at a better angle so that I am less likely to forget to keep an eye on it.

It's a minor difference between the two, but it makes the a-pillar mount better than the dash mount IMO.

w_huisman...Is there a significant difference in the glare on the screen between the dash mount and pillar mount during the day?

I thought that being the Insight is only a monitoring device, that dealers shouldn't / wouldn't care that it's there...am I mistaken with that assumption?

I don't notice a difference in glare. During the day I crank the backlight up, and in the dark I turn it all the way down to one or two settings above the off setting. Seems to do the trick.

I never assume anything when it comes to dealerships. Based on peoples experiences I've read about on the forums, dealerships vary from one extreme to the other when it comes to warranty work on trucks with reliability and performance modifications.

If you don't have the factory warranty, don't worry about it.

It's just when some dealers see a gauges or other devices some are quick to assume you are running tunes or something else. My truck is stock as far as tunes I just have the insight to protect my engine and to catch a problem in time..

Kind of off topic, but dealing with the same equipment, when ordering either the dash mount or pillar mount, do you get to specify a color? Or does it come in a certain color and they provide the paint, if needed? Or will I have to go somewhere to match the color and paint it myself?

Not a big deal, just curious for those of you that have this installed already. Thanks

The dash pod will come natural plastic colored. Kind of a medium gray. I painted mine in the picture above with a flat black, and it matches very well. I can't speak for the pillar pod.

Neither of my mounts came with paint, nor did I paint either one.

My dash mount came in gray, and my a-pillar mount is black. My interior is black and gray (with some wood colored trim), so they both match well enough for me.

My dash mount...

My a-pillar mount....

Thanks for that info bpounds. I would imagine that no matter what mount a person decides to use, that product should work for both mounts if they need to be painted.

Thanks again!
