Oil Leak

I have a 351M and seem to have an oil leak at the oil sender unit. Is this a common problem and how do I fix it. Could not find anything in a book(Haynes or Chilton) that even shows it. Is there some sort of seal?? Or a gasket maybe?? It seems to pool up and then of course make it's way to my driveway!!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Gord

Oil Leak

Its either the rear lip seal on the intake manifold leaking the oil or the sending unit has failed. No gasket or nothing on the sending unit, they can just start leaking oil through the body of it.

Try changing the sending unit first.

I would guess the sending unit is tight? They are just to be good and snug.

Oil Leak

I just replaced the sender on my 460 yesterday. It had a 9/16 hub and cost $10 at NAPA. I used teflon tape to keep the threads sealed. Dont worrry about the tape causing a problem with the electrical ground. The Pipe threads on the sending unit will cut the tape and make good contact with the block.
