Themostat question

So, is it common for the thermostat to be located on the intake side of the water pump of an "85" B2? This seems to fly in the face of common sense to me. Has anyone experienced over heating problems with this set up?

The T-stat is normally located on the lower hose on 2.8 V-6s...........never a problem here.

I got it all apart. Man, what a cluster *&%! of a cooling system. The engineers at Ford must have been heavily into rubber hose futures when they designed this engine.

Thanks for the info Old93junk.
