Looking for the air cleaner to fit my carb. my current air cleaner has a 1/2" clamp on the bottom and does not clamp well to teh carb. looking at the top of the carb, it would assume I need a clamp that has a 'V' or rigde in it.

anybody steer me in the right direction. either air cleaner for my carb or carb for my air cleaner.
If it matters, 1956 F250, I6 232 CI 3 spd man. carb is a reman unit.
Oh, I love those engines, I guess if I would have read all the way through the first post I would have known that. I know exactly what you have. Are you looking for the stock air cleaner, or would you take on that is very similar?
as long as it fits, functions properly(allows proper air flow) and wont fall off is all I care. Currently, I have the large band one which I guess is stock, but I can only assume the original carb was changed in favor of the flange style unit.
a picture of my current setup. air cleaner is resting on carb flange. falls off easily.
You have the typical I-6 Truck carb. The carb. on car engines have a smooth neck. The V-8 air cleaner will not fit as it also has a smooth neck. You will need to find one that came off an I-6 from a truck. Your cab. neck looks the same a the one on the 226 flathead six. The carb. is different but looks like the same neck. They come up on E-bay from time to time. they have the "V" clamp on the bottom to match the carb. Usually pretty high$$$$.
Well, I went out an looked. The V8 air cleaners will not fit because the throat is so much bigger on the 94s. I do have an original air cleaner that came off of a 215 six from a 52. I need it so I am keeping it, but I know what they look like. Also as I was looking for air cleaners I ran across a 56 I6 carb. It has a smooth neck. So yours must have been changed. It was in real nice condition with factory printed numbers on the bowl! I dont think that you want to change carb's just so the air cleaner will fit, but if you do let me know. Ill check with my grandfather he could have one laying around.
Thanks for your help fellas. I was able to score one on Ebang. Took a gamble at it, but it fits perfectly. Not sure what they run for, but I needed it and not I called had one.
Don't know exactly what you paid for it, But if any where near the price shown in the link you got a great deal. Even has the proper brace that goes to the engine. They usually go for a lot more $$$. Good deal.
