Remember, these are supposed to be for a 1978 F150 Custom 351 Windsor engine. My truck doesn't have the A/C mount at the moment, so I can't see how it would help my power steering pump (as i've been told since it's missing it).
You should be able to bolt that power steering right in to the head on your motor. Look to see that the power steering pulley is in line with the waterpump and crank pulley. If not you may need to shim the bracket between the head and p/s bracket or shim it between the bolt head and P/S bracket.
Once in place and lined up, take a string around the pulleys that line up, tie it together like a belt, then go to the parts store to buy a belt the length of your string belt.

Alright. It sounds easy enough, but I'm not sure how I can shim the power steering pump that easily. If you take a look at the pictures I've got, the first one is of the current pump and brackets I'm working with. You can see holes on the front of the head and there is a hidden hole in the pumps pulley mount.
The second picture is the pump I'm going to be buying because my current pumps seal and reservoir are destroyed. Looking at the second picture, it doesn't seem to have the same mounting style as the first picture does when talking about the bracket and head bolt holes.
Basically my question is, any idea on how to make a decent shim for the bracket and mount? Or what materials to use?
You can use the original bracket that goes from the waterpump on your motor to the front of the new power steering pump. If you can not get the long bolt that goes through the bracket into the head you may need this bracket. 1970 1971 Ford Mustang Cougar 351 A/C Mounting Bracket: eBay Motors (item 220611521830 end time Jun-24-10 08:57:15 PDT) It will have a lower mount hole for the pump from the head. My motor uses the same front bracket as you have originaly. You do not need the big a/c plate bracket to mount the pump.
If you click on the picture, you can magnify the photo and see the bracket on the front of the pump is behind that big plate.
