Question about my D60 front

Alright. The economy has gotten the best of me just like it has many others. I was building a dedicated 79 wheeler. Well after months of not being able to get money where I want, I have realized that it aint gonna happen. At least not for a long wile. So what I am going to do is part out what I don't need and keep the rest for my 89. I have a Balljoint D60 that i was linking under the 79. All the link brackets are tacked only so I can just knock them off. What I am wondering is what can I expect to get for this axle? Have not payed attention to their current market value. The only problem I see is that i did trim the driver side spring perch for my links

don't know where you live, but generally they are going for $8-1200 in the midwest areas. depending on it's condition, gears, and differential, you could possibly go higher if you had something someone was in need of, like a matching gear to what their rear end has

I agree with Dan, I payed $800 for my kingpin 60 but I had to re-gear for my application. I do know that the Balljoint style goes for a little less in the "wheelin world" as most guys are after the kingpin. But if you find the right buyer I think you could squeeze a grand out it. At least thats the market in North Carolina.

Yeah I know the kingpins will bring the dough but didn't know how far behind the balljoint axle was. Do you all see any problems with the spring perch being trimmed. The only way I see it being a problem is if a buyer with a 80's-90's Ford wants to leaf it.

I was linking for coils ( Deavers ) Nothing was ever finish welded to the axle though. Just wanting to sell the axle. Keeping the links and ends to use on my 89

Better watch out man, Cheeto will probably offer you $50 lol.

As for the price, I see them going for around $800-1000 here.

You would think, but people do pay $800 up for them. They're slightly less than a king pin, but most of the time when I see people selling them its NOT someone that knows about them, its just some old farmer with a p.o.s. farm truck he's parting. And so regardless of what you think, most people stick to the general idea "Its a D60, its gotta be worth $800-1200." For the most part I haven't seen a ball joint D60 go for over $1000. Usually only around eight or nine hundred.

But i'm also not ever looking so the prices could be off.

around here kingpin 60's go for upwards of a grand and sometimes as much as $1500. ball joint 60's are the $8-1200. surprisingly enough, even though i am in the middle of the rust belt and farm country, you don't find very many 78-79 f250 4x4's laying around for cheap. i can find f150's all day long, and i've only ever seen one 79 f-350 4x4 for sale anywhere close to me. supply and demand causes the price for a given area. to the o/p, check around on your local craigslist to see what guys in your area are trying to sell em for

Everyone seems to be missing this, but....... your most likely buyer is gonna be a TTB F-250 owner that wants to upgrade to a straight axle. And THEY are looking for something that's a straight bolt in.

A hardcore wheeler will most likely want a 78-79 axle. Not just because of the kingpins. But also because of the differential offset. The greater offset of the 87-up axles can create clearance issues on narrow framed trail rigs.

Don't get me wrong....I'm not trying to say your axle is junk. I'm just saying that you may wanna change your marketing strategy......and not just assume that only a wheeler would be interested in it.

You make some very good points, the OP may want to check out NC4x4.com and post it for sale there as he is in Rockwell and is real close to all those Uwharrie guys, more likely that someone on there would care less about the fact that the spring perch is gone, although I can tell you none of those guys will probably pay over $800 for a BJ D60
