Just to a heads up on my mod the other day, on my 03 i had to cut all the way down to the bottom of Washington's nose to clear the valve cover, if not it was pushing the connection back when the valve cover was put back on. I also torqued everything down, nothing was loose, all went well and it run's great.
The harness was updated at some point. Kwik has the new harness with his new engine. He cut the quarter down the same way as described above. Don't know if he did that just for good measure, or if he saw something that left him less than confident in the updated harness design.

Good question the newer ones had a better design and were not prone to coming loose.
I think alot of thing's were ironed out by 03, my harness was not loose at all, but i did it anyway, and checked everything over good. To Chunderdownunder, next mod is a 31 row 6.0 trans cooler, it should be here this week.
How many miles are on your truck? I have been considering pulling the VC's to re-torque everything, but since I don't need to do the 50cent mod I have been dragging my feet. I would hate to go to all the trouble to pull the covers if there isn't anything under there that needs to be re-torqued.

I had to cut it that way because the quarter would have stood up and interfered with the valve cover.
Those little tabs limit how deep you can insert the quarter.
I was getting ready to change the name to the 25 cent mod, just cut one quarter in half and insert one half on each side.
i found out last week that my truck has the updated harness and retainers. would it still be beneficial to to the .25 mod?
I have been trying to build some history with/for my truck since iv'e only had it for about 8K miles of it's life. i called a dealer last week (that i found out did some work about 2 years ago) and they said the MAP sensor, valve cover gaskets, and harnesses were changed. that was at about 140K miles.

I would say that it would fall into the "it can't hurt" category.

Thanks.
Robert, it has 123,000 miles. There was nothing loose under there, the torque wrench clicked right away, If your truck is a 03 and you do decide to do it cut the quarter down to half way to clear the valve cover.
I'm at 125,000 miles. I think I'm going to hold off on pulling the valve covers for now. I know that just because you didn't have anything loose doesn't mean that I won't, but free-time for wrenching is very hard to come by these days, so I think I should focus my efforts elsewhere.
