Replacing AC Clutch

Is this an assembly?
How does this work? Don't study stuff like this in all the HVAC classes I've had. heh.

I didn't have much luck with the search feature on here. Got lots of clutch threads and not much on replacing this thing.

Do I basically pull the pully off and replace it? *shrugs*

Mines boned.
Need to check the compressor too to make sure the bushings/bearings are not screwed as well. Just what I would want to replace.
Don't have any tools to redo the coolant either. DOH!

If you even think your clutch AND compressor are bad why not just buy another one? What's with the shoeless thing standing on a pile of dead babies?? lol

there not babies. haha. They are hobgoblins.

I don't think the compressor is bad. I just said I should check it and make sure.

I am asking about the clutch though.

I read about shimming the clutch on here someplace but that's about all the help I can be. OK, hairy little men who are fond of practical jokes??

i beleave you can pull the clutch and pulley.parts store should rent you the tools to do it.but i'm almost sure you'll lose all the coolant.i just replaced my compressor and it was cheaper to buy one with a new clutch than to buy it without out it.i just changed it out and recharged it with out pulling a vac on it works just fine just dont leave it open long
hope this helps

should always pull a vacuum on a system before adding coolant.

System wont pressurize properly. and air is a contaminate and bad on the pump.

Pulling a vacuum also gets out all the moisture and debris in the system that can damage components.

Thanks Mike!

You shouldn't loose any coolant unless you unhook the lines anyways.
Taking a pulley off shouldn't let you loose coolant.

You wont lose any coolant taking the pulley off, and you are right on with te pulling vaccum.

Yea. Wan't sure why somebody would think you'd loose coolant taking the pulley off.
