What does this box do?

All I know is that it says bulldog security. I think it's a remote starter. Any thoughts?

Yea looks like a remote starter, should have couple inline fuses and a relay or two connected to it tied into the harness, several wires, at/very near the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column just behind the dash.

Yep, there are atleast 3 inline fuses. i think everything is just pig-tailed in, but I'm not sure. Anyone have a wiring diagram so i can take it out? I didn't even know that thing was in there 'til 'bout a month ago. I don't really like the idea that there's a remote starter floatin' around somewhere for my truck, and i don't want any extra crap in my electrical system (especially in my ignition system).

It may be connected with special made adapter tee for remote starters. If so all you have to do is unplug both ends of the tee from the truck harness, then plug those connectors belonging to the trucks harness back into each other again eliminating the adapter.

Then just a couple other wires to deal with, the tee doesn't deal with, brake light switch and running lights circuit taps? Working from memory here so I might be a tad off but you get the idea I think.

If you could post a picture or two of the wiring at the harness I could tell for sure either way.

Give ya an idea what the t harness looks like,

Audio-Etcetera.com

Oh and it might be harness to switch, so you'd unplug the t harness from the ignition switch, disconnect the t harness from the trucks ignition switch connector, plug the trucks ignition switch connector directly back into the ignition switch where it originally was before the remote starter and its t harness was installed.

Thanks, i looked up bulldog, but there wasn't a model or serial number on the box.

danr1,
I'm goin' on a trip tomorrow and won't be back for atleast 6 weeks. I'll see what i can do then though, if you're still interested in looking at it then. There aren't any plug "tees" anywhere that i can see. I bought this truck from a complete idiot, so it's hard to tell what's been done too it.
