Thanks clintbonnie, I already picked up the one at Napa. International was closed today I believe. The information will be stockpiled for the next time.
Okay now. I picked up the kit with the harness and the gasket and has a new 9 pin connector to splice into the old harness. Should I leave the old 9 pin connector as it does not appear to be damaged in any way or do I splice in the new 9 pin?
If the outside, chassis-side connector is OK, I would just leave it alone and use it.
One runs the risk of introducing intermittent connections if splicing in a new one.
Woo Hoo the old girl is going again. Will test her out tomorrow and see what she tells me if anything. I will let you all know the results. The information on this website is priceless.
I just had my passengers side done and the NEW, upgraded UVCH was right at $95. from Ford, I can't believe that NAPA would be much cheaper than that.
The NEW, upgraded harness has hevier wire, and a better connection at the plug that passes through the VC gasket, I was also told that the NEW harness will not work with the old VC gasket...........
Well Supercab the wiring harness and gasket kit was only 78.99 plus tax at Napa. I couldn't believe it was that much cheaper either, but then again Ford is known for premium prices on these types of parts. I really do appreciate the support of everyone here and look forward to becoming a full supporting member of this site in the near future. I was saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars through the knowledge of the wonderful individuals of this site.
On top of that, I think this wiring harness has been giving me a time for a while, although I had no codes the truck just felt like it was missing if that makes sense. Now that I have the new harness and gasket in place the old girl runs smoother than she has in a while. Many kuddos to all the members of this site and the help you provide for us poor souls.
It is definitely running a heck of a lot better that it has in a while. I didn't realize it wasn't running at top performance for a while. The old girl has better pep and really lets loose if you step on it now. It was hesitating before and I wasn't sure why. Alls well that ends well.
