I went and test drove a 1997 F350 Dually Supercab today. Thing is perfect inside and out. 97000 miles on it.
I went to road test the truck. It drove alright until I would get on it. I am thinking it was a clogged fuel filter. THe truck has sat for two years with it only being started once a week and not driven. I am going to go back and look at it tommorow, check the fuel filter then.
What happened was it would make about 12-13 pounds of boost (right where it should be at this altitude). I let off the throttle and tried to get back to a cruising throttle position, and it started to buck and not show no RPM and then some and then none, never died though. My thoughts are it runs fine if the fuel supply is not extremely taxed, but as soon as it is, then it runs out of fuel in the fuel bowl and starts to dye. Any other thoughts?
It could be the FPR screen too if thats clogged enough itll mess with it pretty bad, that and there could be algae in the fuel after sitting that long too. Not hard to fix either of those though. Are you going to the DP event for the CPSC at Toms?

I dunno if i will be at Tom's in two weeks or not... If I do end up getting this truck I will be. I plan on swapping the injectors out of my truck into it and having my chip reburned if thats the case. I talked to tom about that yesterday, and he said it would not be a huge issue.
Since its going to rain all day it looks like, I am going to try and look at this truck again today in the day light. Im just over not being able to have any room inside the truck, need something bigger.

Thanks man! School got really busy for a while, and now im working 65 hours a week and racing in the Pro class and the King Street Classes at the track on the weekend, im just so busy...
Ya, you're busy! Me too, I haven't even had a chance to take the race cars out this year. Weekends have been full of crap to do to. 4th of july is the first time I think I'll get out.
Thought maybe you sold your truck since I aint seen you for so long. Just wanting a bigger one, huh? Sweet. Check out my new to me race car trailer behind my truck on page two. You'd like that.
Yeah Im going to Toms to pick up my chip from Jody, Then gonna finish out my build of stage 1's and water meth injection. And you dont need anymore room in your truck, if you had more room all you'd do was put more junk in the cab, lol, but the dually might not be a bad idea with your trailer.
The injectors your pulling out of the new truck to replace with yours, I could either use them complete for my new ones or at least some of the pieces as Im sure my plungers and barrels are in crappy shape and I was gonna wait to replace those til later unless I came across some cheaper decent injectors to mix and match parts from.
Theoretically the ones your pulling from the newer truck would be in far better shape than mine, but mine do work, so maybe we just swap 'em mine and yours from the new one and you could put mine in the old truck, if not no worries just thought Id run it by you.
is this truck 5 speed or auto that your looking at? if 5 speed go ahead and swap in your whole PCM and everything. that way if you do have to pull the chip for some reason then you can still run on the computer alone for awhile. or get Jody to tune the PCM itself for splits and reburn the chip as well.
you said that the truck would start registering no RPM while driving when it started stumbling? change the CPS and see if it still does it if they will let you mess with the CPS... don't tell them what your changing if you can, but it sounds like it's doing what mine did when the CPS went out.. if it stops registering RPM i'm going to say it's electrical related instead of fuel related. if it was fuel related the RPM guage would move around when it stumbled, but would drop to zero unless the engine shut down..
