Wiring harness Question

So I am changing my 91 Explorer from a crappy auto to a 5 speed. Luckily I have a complete donor so parts aren't an issue. I have changed the harness that goes behind the dash so the clutch has its neutral switch, but do I need to change the harness that goes from the firewall plug around to the power distibution box? Can I leave it and the harness that plugs into the computer alone? I am pretty sure the computer will also need swapped, but I had planned on doing that anyway. Oh, the donar is also a 91. Both are XL's and only have a/c, tilt, and cc. Also, does anyone know how to get the ignition lock cylinder out? So I don't have to change the door locks. Both trucks are still one key jobs and I would kinda like to keep them that way. Thanks

Holy crap AC !!! Glad you're here to post!!

IMHO if I had already changed out the dash harness I'd just go on and do the other one. Then there's no question. Yes the computer will need to be swapped. I don't know if my info goes back to 91 but I'll check re the ign cylinder swap. That should be fairly easy to find instructions online for though.

Well, that fun is over with. Wouldn't wish that 3 days on anyone. Wasn't really hard just slow and time consuming. I could swear that to change the ign lock cyl, all you had to do was pull the plastic off the colum, turn the key to acc, then put a unbent paper clip into a hole on the bottom and turn the key further to slide it out. Still looking for the hole....

Do you need the ign switch instructions?

Yes, please. I really don't want to have to pull the door and lift gate panels to swap out the lock cyl. It would be so much simpler to just swap out the ign.

I got the ign switch changed thanks inpart to my new Chilton manual. Now here is an odd part. After changing out the wiring harness and dash, everything worked; lights, dash lights, guages, motor ran perfect, ect. I went to reinstall the CD player and found out there was no power. I did some checking and discovered there were 3 plugs not attatched to anything. Not knowing exactly where they went, I crawled under the dash of my other 91, and found out where they went. I go back to the project truck, and can't find the plugs other half. So I completely remove the dash again, thinking the parts I'm looking for may have gotten tucked up behind something else(this happened with the cruise plug), and discover the not only are the plugs not there, but appear to NEVER have been there. I have pictures of the plugs, but not real sure how to post them. Anyone care to tackle this enigma?
