Hi everyone. Just bought a 1999 F-150 and have just ran into a new issue. The other day my wife went out and tried to unlock my truck with the key on the driver side. For whatever reason when she put the key in, it just turns but will not unlock the door. This was just working the other day. We can still unlock the passenger side just fine and the electric locks will unlock the driver side also.
Thoughts? Is this just a linkage that fell apart inside the door? I'm planning on pulling the door apart tomorrow, but wondered if anyone has seen this problem.
Also, can I order another key and possibly the key fobs for this truck? Was remote unlock and lock a standard feature on 1999? Miss that feature and the previous owner only had the one key.
So, took the door apart today and sure enough, the clip that holds the linkage from the door key lock to the actual locking mechanism had fallen off. After working the linkage back onto the key lock stud all is well. The only thing I'm not sure off if there is another c-clip that is supposed to be their to keep the linkage on the end of the stud. I put some glue on it and hope it holds.
