I recently bought a 2002 F250 7.3. The tires are only going to last me a few more months. I'm not looking to jack the truck all up but I was thinking about one of the leveling kits I keep seeing on the internet. I know nothing about them and was wondering if there were a good/bad idea, who made the best one, and just some of your thoughts and ideas about them. Thanks in advance
Leveling kits are very popular. They are designed to "typically" level the "front" of your truck. Consider how much you need or want to level it. If you exceede the height to match the rear you will then want to raise the rear. Many do this to achieve a smaller "lift" so choose your level height carefully and consider if you want to raise the whole truck.
Once you have spent a fair amount of time researching the topic and planning your project (really the correct and proper way to do it) you will have a better idea of the items, services and costs you will need to do it properly.
Seeing as you have the front leafs, typically add-a-leaf kits are popular as well as shackle kits etc.. I have coils so i don't have much experience with the leafs but im sure others will chime in to help you get started.
I have used both new spring and the shackle/hanger leveling kits. On my 99 with the 5.4 I used the spring leveling kit. It advertised 2.5". Since the engine was the light 5.4 I probably got 3.5-4" in the front. On my 03 I went with the shackle/hanger kit. I did this because I knew I would get only the advertised lift.
If you decide to go with a leveling kit you may need to go with the F350 blocks on the rear to make it sit nice.
