Wanting to buy a F250
Im looking to buy a powerstroke, What would be the best year to look for and what is the main probs you have with a powerstroke? This is going to be my first F250, Im looking at selling my DD 1996 Jeep cherokee and getting a F250 for a DD
Gas mileage im not worried about cause I get about 19 to a gallon now in my Jeep
Also I have a three year old little girl and one on the way but my wife has a 4Runner to haul the kids around but i might have to every so often
Please Help me out
I want a powerstroke bad
How well does the drivetrain hold up Im not doing any pulling or drag raceing the truck
Thanks for your help

The main thing is to be sure the truck has been taken care of well. On time oil and filter changes, turbo wear, u-joints, ball joints...I'm sure someone has a full list everything to look into and will send it your way.
The auto. trannies are pretty good on these trucks although very prone to breaking if not beefed up for the additional power we put on them. I would definately upgrade your tranny cooler if you go auto. If your not going to work the truck hard and do any major upgrades then that's all you probably need to do.
Since the likelyhood of having your family in the truck from time to time, I would think you want an extended cab or crew. I know my standard cab get cramped with just me and my stuff in it.
Mileage won't be any better than what your seeing with your jeep from my experience. I get 17 mpg's highway at 70-75 mph (with 2,000 pounds in the bed). Others get close to the twenties, but they are manual trannies and 3.73 gears IIRC.
hope this helps.
