The air compressor on my '97 expy runs every time the truck is started (shuts off soon after [for now]). Anyone familiar with this problem or the repair?
I believe that is normal. My 99 Expy EB has done that since I bought it. Its supposed to be part of the load leveling or (kneeling feature).
Word to the wise: If you jack the thing up to work on it make sure you turn this feature off (there's a switch behind the passenger kick panel). Because even when the vehicle is off it can try to level itself. and theres nothin' quite like bein' under a 5500lb vehicle and have it start shiftin' on ya. Ya talk about greasy panty's after that.
Actually I think that is a normal part of the load leveling suspension feature. If I am correct, it lowers approximatly 1" when shut off for easier exiting and entry, levels the truck when it has a load and actually raises 1" when in 4X4 low range. Not for sure about this....but fairly certian. Hope this helps.
