Alt. or voltage regulator

For the past while when I turn on my turn signals my alternator gauge would tick or move along with the blinkers.
Today while sitting at a train crossing the truck just shut down, zero power.
Prior to shutting down with the truck running the only power I had on was the headlights and radio.
I pushed her back messed with my cables, nothing.
Then I jumped across the starter solenoid and the starter engaged. I went back into the truck and had full power and she started as normal.

I did turn the heat, lights and radio on and noticed that the alt gauge went down.

Is it my voltatge regulator or the alternator????

Probably neither one. My guess is battery cables, poor grounds, or the main engine/harness connection on the passenger side fender.
