I just bought a rolling chassis to swap my cab and box over from my 78 to a 77 frame. The 78 has a np435 with a 205 tcase, where the 77 has a c6 and 203. I want to keep the c6 but make the switch to the 205. How hard is the swap and what is all involved?
Also, the 203 means no front hubs. What would all happen if the hubs were left the way they were and the 205 was put in its place? is that just asking for trouble. And do the hubs just switch over if I do need to use them?
The 205 is a bolt in swap. However, the drive shafts will have to be modified.
Locking hubs are not required. As long as your entire front end isin good condition, there will be no problems with using the solid drive flanges. However, if you decide to, the locking hubs will swap over.
