hahahah! shade tree mechanics, gotta love it! Joe! what's up dude, you and james were putting a ram-air on his 94 like last week right? I just bought his front bumper last friday... Yeah, I can make cables if you got a napa close to you. I haven't looked at exactly what needs to be strung up on the older trucks, but if I have made cables-a-plenty. I am a production lighting tech, so I do electrical crap all the time. I think I'm free friday and sat... Let me know! PM me your number and I'll give you a buzz either tonight or tomorrow and we'll figure it out.
what prompted the battery cable reman in the first place? If it starts then you know you have good battery power, so the cable from the batts to the starter is good. How did you discern that it isn't charging at all? What gauge cable did you use? check connections to the alt. again... I would have to look at it and do some poking around with a voltmeter to tell you exactly. There are a bunch of things it could be. Or as simple as your alt died, or maybe the regulator died...
So what were the symptoms? All it says is you found your bad ground. If that was the ground wire, not the hot wire, then wearing through and touching metal wouldn't do anything... It's already a ground wire, it's common with the body and chassis of the truck. If that were the pos wire then you would have some serious problems, sparks, short loads, and fry a bunch of stuff possibly. I need to know what it was doing to make you start working on it. And in all honesty, I need to be there and see it myself, I'm a hands on guy. I should be off work by about 4 or 5 tomorrow and have friday and saturday off. shoot me that pm with your number and we'll get this fixed! booyah, I need to go to bed... 13 hour work day today on 4 hours of sleep last night, nice.
i been try to fix it for all most a year i bought this for 1700 and cause the idi has no comps and i get droping batterys ur in napa right my mom works at the napa state hospitel lol in not good with wiring at all i think i got it figerd out and poof everthing changes on me lol but it not legal at the monent
remind me when I call you to grab my batt. charger, and volt meter. we'll whip it up in a hot second... hah! You got a good set of tools otherwise? cuz I have a big roll around in my garage but I aint tryin to load that thing into my truck myself... hahaha. I got a little set in my truck that should handle most anything that's not too tricky. We should get ol james' **** out there to help too!
yeah yeah, like i said, 13 hour work day on 4 hours of sleep! hahaha, anyhow, sorry I didn't call you today. I was suppose to be done with work and home by 5 and I didn't get off work till after 10... Today turned into a **** storm that was completely unexpected. Want to get together tomorrow sometime? I got nothin going on. I called james earlier and told him I was swinging out there either tomorrow or sat. and he said he'd tag along maybe. So.... Always better with a couple more eyeballs working and thinking right?
