been chasing a problem on the new flatty powered beast . it's been starving for fuel and , just quits running . new pump and carb rebuild by stan lomelino, aka mr .flathead , and no sediment in the tank now to plug it . still having issues .... then for some reason i put the carb off of my 53 on it and was checking lines etc. up top and found this . sheeez all that trouble and it was right in front of me the entire time ........................Attachment 24557
Whats even more frustrating is when the rubber inside the line lets go and a flap forms - blocks flow at pressure then releases when the engine is shut down and the fuel trickles thru.
Ah the joy filled life of an old truck owner. There's another piece of worn out gear there somewhere, you just haven't found it yet. Mine was the bendix gear on the starter - had that heavy awkward p o j out 3 times before bench test and close inspection revealed it.
yaeh i don't think i or the wife would've liked the 52 going up in flames ross !!!!!!!!! everything else checks out mab . this isn't a truck it's a 52 customline the guy's have seen pics of thats been in semi retirement since 66 ............................
I once had a small crack in an old fuel line give me fits for about 6 months. The old car would stall now and again, it would restart right away and I'd be good fro a few more weeks. Eventually it got worse and worse and sometimes wouldn't restart. I never could duplicate the problem in the driveway and guessed my way through replacing tons of parts (which was hard to do on my teenagers budget). Eventually I found a crack in a dried out fuel line near the gas tank that would let the fuel pump suck air now and again.
Sometimes its the little things that cause us so much trouble. Its easy to over diagnose and overlook the small stuff. Glad you found it
