ITPs RR question

I've got an airdog and ITPs rr on my truck and also an in cab FP gauge which comes off the cap of the upper fuel filter. My in cab gauge is reading 62psi and the RR gauge is reading 55psi and sometimes 65psi. I had the RR set at 65psi and it keeps going up and down. Has anyone ever had this problem? When I turn the key on it sounds like it's sucking air but I can't tell where and if it was I would think there would be some fuel coming out somewhere but I don't see any leaks. Any thoughts guys?

Thanks

Shawn

My gauges always read different, but the RR gauge reads 10 psi higher than the secondary FF gauge, but my FF gauge is tapped into the fuel pressure test port as the gauge in the cap has been known to read inaccurately. Regardless....it's a balancing act. The Airdog must return some fuel. How tight is your regulator on the pump set? Also, if you want a small amount of return through the heads then tighten the underhood regulator down until the pressure maxes out and back it off just a very very very small amount. If the pressure is still too high then adjust it at the pump and readjust it at the RR.

FWIW--the fuel pressure gauge on the RR should always be lower than the FF due to fuel usage from the injectors. If the RR gauge is going up and down it's the regulator opening and closing. Tighten it down a tweak before you make any major adjustments and see if that stops it. Also consider that it could just be the gauge/gauges.

I've still got the oem fuel pump. The airdog as far as I know doesn't have a regulator on it. Airdog I. Could it be something internal on the RR that's making the hiss noise? Sounds like it's sucking air before start up.

How long does it take your fuel pressure to come up when you turn on the key? Yes, I suppose you could be hearing fuel flowing through the fuel lines, but if it was sucking air you would probably lose prime.

It varies. Sometimes it's straight to 62 and sometimes it takes a few seconds. I've had this setup for almost a year now and it just now started doing this. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Maybe I'll take the RR apart and see if there's an oring or something worn out in it.
