Hello again Can you all tell me if there is some place that makes aftermarket exhaust systems for a 62 4x4 with headers? Also will 360 or 390 headers bolt right up to my 352? Will there be some frame issues with the headers? It has headers now that are junk. I did some local checking and this dude in Holland wants to charge me about $300.00 for a set of headers and then charge me $69.00 an hour to custom make the dual exhaust. Which he made clear that he would need my truck for about a day and a half. Yea like my name is Donald Trump. Please share your knowledge with the unknowledgeable.
Im not sure about the 360 headers, but the 390s will.
The blocks are the same.
I go the exhaust manifolds off of my 352, and they'll fit my 390
Hope I could be of some assistance
You can get headers for a 360 or 390, and you will have no problems bolting up to a 352. They are the same block. As far as the exhaust goes, look around. I think I ended up paying $260 for my exhaust with nice dual chamber mufflers, and 2 1/2 inch coming out in front of the rear tires. It shouldn't take an exhaust shop a day and a half to do your exhaust, mine only took a couple hours.
You both paid to much for your exhaust.. Atleast I think so
We had dual exhaust with mufflers put on a 79 we had.
From headers back it only costs us 120 bucks. And they did a really good job.
Hey Andy I didn't pay for my exhaust yet!!!! I was just checking to see if there is some place that still makes a stock exhaust for my truck. I am still looking around. These exhaust dudes think that when they tell a customer that they need to do some customizing to the exhaust, they can charge an arm and a leg , and these customers pay that due to there ignorance. Well I maybe a little ignorant but not that ignorant. I am still comparing prices and products and people. I will let you all know what I come up with.
I got 3 estimates for my exhaust. The first was 700 bucks and a day in the shop. The second was 400 a day in the shop and they would not install my manifold. Third shop got my business, 370 for a custom exhaust system, 2 1/4 inch duals to a 70 series Flowmaster with single 3 inch pipe out the right rear fender after the tire. Looks great, sounds great and is really installed properly. I had wanted to dump it out in front of the tire but the installer misunderstood my instructions and when I saw the nice job he had done on the tail pipe I let it go. There are shops that do quality work at a fair price, shop around!
William in Atlanta
Hey I just picked my truck up today, I got a complete dual exhaust, with great looking chrome tips, from the manifolds all the way out the back. It looks and sounds great, had to shop around a bit, total cost $195.00 with a lifetime warranty.
Don't know if its still there, cause I now live in Indianapolis. But I had my duel exhaust put on by Express muffler in Zeeland MI, not too far from you. Did a nice job, all the way out the back with mufflers.......bout $300.00. His name is Mike Borr...(616) 392-8180.
It's been about 3 years ......but you can check it out....good luck!
Sorry about the limited info, Copperas Cove is in Texas, I have a long bed 66 F100, 2WD, 352, any other info. One more thing if you are in the area, the place was Bill's Muffler shop, seems like they did a pretty good job. Later.
Hey All Well I did some checking around, and the cheapest I could find is around $400.00. I need new headers at a cost of around $100.00. The pipe work for a 3" exhuast from the headers back is around $200.00(2.25 " is about the same price). And the mufflers between $35.00 to $100.00 +/-. Comes to around $400.00
Ouch. I really don't want to go to a single with exhaust manifolds. The headers I have now are junk. I haven't checked on a set of used exhaust manifolds, i'll do that tomorrow. If anyone wants to donate all or part of the cost, please feel free to let me know.
one oher thing to keep in mind is the quality of pipes the shop uses. alot of shops use thin gauge mild steel for exhaust. it is cheap and rust out fast. the guy i go (kind of expensive) to uses a thick gauge aluminized steel. very thick, very hard to bend. but the stuff doesnt rust. its almost as good as stainless, but like half the cost. i had him do the exhaust on all my vehicles and none are showing any signs of rust 2-3 years later. and i live in the salt belt. (So. WI) so just remember you get what you pay for. you can pay a little more now and have an exhaust that will last. or pay a little now, and than again in 2 years, and 2 years later.......
