carter carb help
I just got a straight six, and it has a carter carb on it that is computer controlled, the truck that it is going in has none of the electric components.
I need help. Please tell what model carburetor I need YF, YFA
and where the best place to order one from

I went to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and plugged in a 1980 f150 with a 300 six in Pennsylvania. This place said they had a carb.

You could also try the parts store. Just try to stay with a 300 in the early 80's that does not have a electronic carb. You need to make sure also they will bolt on your intake.
Also do you realize the distributor on a engine with a electronic carb also needs the computer to work? So you will need a distributor also.
What happened to the old engine that was in the truck?

The old engine got toasted, my friend was driving it home, and the molley distributor melted down and caught the fuel line on fire. The truck is ok but the engine needs a list of new things. Plus it was a 400 over bored that only got 5mpg, for my work i need something a little better.
as far as the distributor I have not got to it yet. Moneys tight so it probably be from the junk yard

You can get a Duraspark 2 distributor on ebay, Item number: 220524675695
$55 free shipping, this is a new part with cap and rotor.

If money is tight, use the carb you have and spend your money on converting to a Duraspark 2 ign system.

I would guess the 300 engine is 84-86 unless it is from CA
