i have tunes for 1's with tonys but there is zero power difference between daily, extreme, smoke. just extreme is super touchy on the pedal and power doesnt keep on as long and and daily and smoke are the same but power is dead dead dead then WAM power and fades out. its interesting, cool when it breaks the tires loose thoe! dang i really need my new tunes
I don't have a set tune that i drive daily on. it all depends on my mood really. i do find that most of the time i daily drive my race tune.. haha.
Most of you guys with "touchy throttles" is from the tunes. mine was like that to the point that it was touchy enough that it would pulsate when i used the cruise control. Tony changed it up for me though. now i have 100% of my throttle pedal back. i used to only have about 50% of my pedal.. past 50% and there was no difference. now at half throttle it moves pretty good then you put it on the floor from there and it screams! Difference here though is usually the live tune... None of my tunes have a touchy throttle feel to them.. even my HOT tune, power is nice and smooth without much if any smoke until i ask for it. Gotta love that live tuning!
My hpop is very healthy and I can't run it out of oil to save my life, it's just not tuned right and the power just comes on differently, daily hits har and very smokey, extreme is super touchy fuels low but builds boost fast so it's not nearly as smokey
that sounds completely backwards of Tony's tunes.... his extreme tunes i have used in my truck fuel HARD down low and once the turbo finally comes alive it hits very very hard.. maybe yours is just really different. lol
I will play around with the different settings and try to note the differences on mine. I won't bother Tony with a retune until I do the IC/van turbo and injector mods. IC/turbo will be this summer's project and the injectors/HPOP soon after that. Things should be vastly different by then.
The touchy throttle is fun streetside, but on the highway I want smoother response. That's why I have that **** down below the dash, eh?
FWIW I have no touchiness of the throttle in any position. I have heard that about the 140 idm mod though I don't notice it with my setup. I've set the cruise with my 48' trailer and empty in most all my tunes (except econo which for some reason I don't like as well) and it is fine. I run in the stock mode or 30hp tow mode most of the time. Stock on the highway and tow in town. I like the tow mode, rpms are higher when shifting and the turbo really whines in my little town. Screams real good amongst the buildings on main street.

It's a cheaper (was anyways) way for me to lower the EGT's and back pressure. Especially with a gutted EBPV. The SD-van turbo has a much larger housing than the stock OBS turbo. This will move more air. In fact, I'm increasing the entire intake to 3" with SooperDuty parts. I sorta fell into this path of the project. Prolly not cheaper anymore...but hella fun.
All that air will be nothing but good for the engine, even with stock 90-something cc sticks (egt's mainly). When the injectors get updated to 160cc (hpop/idm, too), then it will be put to good use. I'm searching for the 350hp mark ultimately.
The van turbos are slower to spool, but they carry nicely on the top end. With a manual transmission, slow spooling will be less of an issue. It'll provide better power to tow the toyhauler that gets loaded somewhere around 10-14k-lbs. Later, I should be able to plan a nice 38R or something.

You can do over 350hp on a stock OBS turbo with blown out intake plenums leaking boost to the point of only having 24psi. Mine has shown 380hp on the dyno w/ the stock turbo and only 24psi from the crappy plenums w/ stage 1 tunes and stage 2 injectors... what is the van turbo supposed to be good for power wise??? the van turbo on my buddy's SD still surges so IMO that itself is a major turn off. very seldom do you hear an OBS turbo surge..
80 hp tow mode. maybe im crazy but i seem to get better milage around town with it. i know i get better response for sure. i run economy on the highway though.
