Lifting A 2wd?

Okay lets try again. I posted in the wrong section last time.

I have a 1995 F-150 2wd. I want to put a 4"-6" lift on it. I am leaning more towards the 4" due to the fact that I do not want to upgrade tires yet. I also want to do it for a decent price. Not trying to go over 350. Anyone have any comments/concerns?

Thanks All

Don't think you're going to find any good, safe 4" lift for under $350 unless you find a screaming deal on a used one.

I agree with that. Do not skimp on a lift. You will end up regretting it.

Also, you will need to regear the rear axle to compensate for larger tires as well.

My suggestion is to just get some 31 10.50s for it and call it done.

I had a small lift on mine before and took it all off, because it affected performance, fuel economy, handling, braking ability and ride quality. I never really took my truck off roading anyway. Its just as capable if not more so with out that stuff for everything I use it for which does include some light off roading. After having done it to mine for a little while, I don't see the point to lifting a 2wd.

^^ totally agree with TexasGuy Lifting a 2wd and putting bigger tires on it just screams Mall crawler. unless of course they are like 45 inch rims then i would just say that its ghetto lookin lol but in all seriousness the truck stock can fit 33 12.50s with minor rubbing I have 31 10.50s on mine and they do not rub at all just a suggestion

Chase, a 4x4 truck can do 33 inch tires without rubbing. Do you think a 2wd truck can that sits several inches lower? No. When my truck sat stock, I had minor rubbing issues with my 31's.

TexasGuy is right. You will regret lifting your 2wd truck. It is cheaper, easier on fuel, easier on parts, more power and better handling to just leave your truck alone.

If you want a different look, go for some really nice rims and tires. I love the look of big wide tires on a 2wd truck. That's just me.

I have a 2wd I lifted (body lift). Now I can't run more ecenomic tires without the truck looking goofy. Because of the larger tires I had to re-gear the truck also.

It's one thing after another. I hope you listen to the advice given here.

However, to each his own, and if you do decide to lift your truck, PLEASE DO IT RIGHT, FOR SAFETY REASONS. Do not go BODY LIFT. Keep the lift simple. A 3'' suspension lift would be great for your truck. Anything more starts causing problems you have to throw money at.

Good luck!

andy that is the truth for sure. I would rather see a well taken care of truck with decent tires and rims than one that is modded to heck and back with stupid crap
