another spring question

I just finished cleaning up and rebuilding my front springs. Gave them a vinegar and water bath, wire wheeled the leftovers off, chamfered the ends on the grinder and put teflon liners between all the leaves. I had to remove 1 leaf from each side only because I found a broken one on the second spring.
I took one of my rear springs apart to start its bath. The rear leaves have a slight groove in the top that goes from one end to the other. The front leaves didn't have this. Are they just different or could my rear leaves be from some other manufacturer or year? The originals on my 52 came apart in about 300 pieces so these were picked up at the my local yard. Supposedly they are from a 51 F2 or F3. The length and width are correct and they have 14 leaves on each side.
With a little luck my frame will have at least one axle under it by Sunday!
Mike
