Best wiring kit?

I just bought a whole new sound system minus the head unit and front speakers, I was wondering what the best way to wire this is and if you guys have any links. Did you use a certain kit to wire?

I am not sure if the amp works, my friend threw it in for free, what is the best way to test if it is working correctly?

all in all, I am just looking for a link for the best way to install audio into a truck. Everything I find is for civics and escorts.

Thanks guys!

No sure what kind of kit you are looking for, either one for the factory harness intgration or the Amp kit.

If you are looking for a factory integration harness for the radio then try Walmart, Crutchfield or one of your local car audio shops. I get most of my stuff from Crutchfield or Sonic Electronix in Southern California.

As for the Amp, is it going to power the speakers or subs, and how big is it. I would see if you could get a car battery near the AMP and raidio and hook the nessary wires up and see if it works with scrap wire. That way if it does not work, you are not out the money on an AMP kit.

If it is deemed working then, depending how big it is, will determine the size wire you need. Here are the guide lines that I use.

10 guage is for Small Amps up to 500 watts
8 guage is for Amps up to 1000 watts
4 guage is for Amps up to 1500 watts
0/1 guage is for Amps bigger than 1500 watts

I have 4 guage in all my setups but I have subs and Cross overs, Caps, and I also run Power invertors off my CAPs. Most of the kits I get for the Amps either come from the local Stereo shops or Walmart.

Hope this helps.

Chris

I just picked up a wiring kit from wal mart and some speaker wire, but me being me...of course did not look at the amp fuses. All of them are blown, so I will try hooking it up correctly with fuses in it and see if the thing works.

I am just wiring two subs into the amp.

Just make sure to fuse the hot lead about 6 inches from the battery and make sure that you check the fuses in the AMP :-) good luck. Let me know how it sounds!
