F250 + Tools?

Hi,

I just recently bought a 2005 F250 6.0L and was about to do the diesel filter maintenance...

Seems I need a 36mm socket for that..

I have everything up to 24mm & 1 1/4..

What tools should I consider buying? (For maintenance, repairs, etc..)
Metric/SAE?

Thanks

Lisle makes a socket that fits both the oil filter and primary fuel filter caps. The best thing about it is that it is very short, and fits a 3/8" ratchet. Most 36mm sockets would be at least a 1/2" drive, and mine is 3/4" drive. Way overkill for a plastic cap, and I love that Lisle socket.

The small fuel filter cap is a 15/16".

You will need a 6mm allen wrench for the fuel water trap. I recommend you replace that cap with the knurled plug, so you won't need any tool once you have it out the first time.

Those are the basics for oil and fuel system maintenance.

Beyond that you will need both SAE and metric tools of all types.
