My right front wheel bearing has turned to dust (literally). I can move the top of the wheel almost 1/2 inch in & out. I have the new hub but want to check on the proper way to torque bolts on Fords. I've been messing with IH tractors and Scouts mostly the last few years. IH specifies bolt torque with lubricated threads and their numbers are maybe 60% of what I see on comparable Ford bolts. I know I read a few years ago (maybe 10-15, that's not long) that Ford specifies bolt torque with clean dry threads.
I got a new nut when I got the hub. Parts guy was very careful to tell me that this is a "Torque to yield" nut. Like a head bolt or flywheel bolt on a 7.3. You tighten it till you just cross the yield limit. Don't miss on the torque.
