clutch going?
Hi, I have a 1994 f-150 I6 with a manual 5 speed tranny. Just recently its been hard shifting. The clutch, which usually has resistance, can be pushed half way with no resistance. This system is hydrolic, I know. Could there be air in the system? If one of the cylinders (master, slave) are bad which is more likely to go? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the slave cylinder is more likely to go out. it could be that the slave cylinder has recently started leaking. they are prone to do that in cold weather. might just want to check the fluid level in the master cylinder. if it is a lilltl low then this is probably why.

Thanks you guys! Something has started leaking recently. 2 and 2 make clutch leak. I filled the master cylinder today, It seemed ok but filled it any way, and it was a lot better. Can I replace seals and fix leaks or will I have to replace?? Thanks again.

You could probably replace the seals if you could find them. Parts stores around here won't sell seal kits anymore for liability reasons. Some of the mor common stuff is actually cheaper when you buy a rebuilt unit rather than the rebuild kit. I guess the reman companies have cheap labor.
