I drive a 91 E350 with the diesel. Lately I have noticed that when I drive it up a slight incline at freeway speeds it does not seem to like this and it seems that the transmission grinds a little bit and gives the car a little shake. Is this the transmission slipping? It does not do it all the time and usually if I ease off the gas pedal it goes away. Once it goes away I can usually just baby it and it will continue to gain speed up hill but if I try to give it too much power at once it starts grinding and shaking again. Any ideas?
I recently serviced the transmission with a fluid change and a new transmission filter inside. Also looking at getting an inline filter and a new trans cooler. The new filter and fluid did not seem to have any effect on this behavior.
