Not really sure if this is the right place to post this but, please let me know. I have 78 302 in a 52 f1 truck. I just got back from driving it is leaking trans fluid like a siv. It looks like it is coming out of the area by the inspection plate of the trans. I did just add trans fluid in and I made sure it was at the right level with the truck wwarm and running. I dont know if I added to much or something worse happened. Any help would be great!
I think I may have figured it out! I guess what I need to know if possible is if there is to much trans fluid put in would it drain out somewhere or not!
If you have way too much fluid, it can come out the dipstick tube or blow out a seal. If you see it coming out from the converter inspection cover, it could be the front pump seal.

Thanks!
I guess I dont know what is considered too much but I only put in about half a quart. I seems a little weird that it starts leaking only after I put some in. Your answer does help though!
Just a little something worth noting, it only takes about a pint of fluid to get from the add mark to the full mark on the C4, not a whole quart like most car engines.

Yep! I also found out that my trans is a c6 and not a c4. Note to self: dont listen to the guy that is selling it to you! Either way I think I broke it. What a stupid design. I'm sure its like this with all of them. $4 1/2 quart of ATF turns into hundreds of dollars in a transmission!
Look at the bright side, now you have a stronger transmission then you thought you had.
If it is just the front pump seal that's blown out, all you should have to do would be drop the trans, remove the converter, install new seal then reinstall converter and trans........and drain a little bit of fluid.
