I have a problem with my 2000 F250 7.3. All of the sudden if I put my foot on the pedal and floor it, the truck almost stalls. I can hear the diesel working howver it seems like the truck is dead. However, when I take my foot off the gas it drives fine as long as the pedal is not near the floor. I would say I can only go down about half way.. I thought at first that it might might be a downshifting problem, But I am not sure. The truck does shift fine I think. Could the truck be starving for diesel.
My truck did something similar when my CPS went out along with the fuel pump. There are some links here to build your own fuel pressure gauge. do a search and give that a shot.
Someone with a little more knowledge will be on shortly to get you going in the right direction.
If you are not getting a CEL, then it could be fuel, if you haven't, you may want to change fuel filters. If you are getting the CEL, have the codes read and go from there.
Thanks Guys. I am going to change the Fuel filter when I get home. My friend that is a mechanic said it could be the filter. The CEL is not on, which is wierd in my opinion, but maybe there is hope!
