Glue on carpet
I just picked up a carpet at the wreckers. It cleaned up beautifully with Marine clean (from POR 15 people) however it appears that the P.O. has glued something on the carpet. The glue is brownishyellow and hardened. I can't trim it off without cutting the pile off. Can anybody suggest a remedy, I think it is carpenters glue.

How thick is the carpet piling? If it's a real tight piling, you could try lightly sanding the bulk of it off and then use something like Goof Off or Citristrip to remove the rest. Be sure to test a scrap piece first in case of any discoloration.
Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe someone else will step in with other ideas.
