Hey i would wet my pants to get a "dual gear" setup for my '85 F350 auto! I really think some one swapped in a 5 speed rear end ( have the C6 auto ), sucker is tapped out at 60mph!, missed out on a spicer 3 speed aux trans for my rig ( under, direct and overdrive ), sooooooo............
lol

You can run an auxiliary gear box, a dual-ranger (direct-over or under-direct) are most common but there are several folks who have adapted 3-speeds in there swell - I know of one who has a 5-speed main trans with a 3-speed auxiliary off a medium-duty truck, so he actually has 15 usable forward gears.
And there is no such thing as a 5-speed rear end, while it is true that many C6 trucks came with 3.55 gears in the axles and many 5-speeds have the 4.10s there are plenty of the opposite combos as well (C6 with 4.10s and ZF-5 with 3.55s) - I suspect your truck being a 1-ton got the 4.10s, which is really nothing unusual considering the general purpose of a 1-ton truck
