t-case shifting
Hi folks, does any-one have any ideas to improve the shifting & performance of my 1970 f100 transfer case?( single speed)Its ok to get into 4 wheel, but whines a lot, and is very difficult to shift out of. My 72 blazer with a 2 spd np 205 shifts in & out easily at any speed and is very smooth & quiet. I have checked the linkage etc, and all seems fine. The np 2o5 is just straight cut gears, so I dont see why my ford t-case should be much different.

Mine is very tough to shift out too. Like you, I checked and lubed the linkages. I think it has to do with worn mounts more than anything. I have found shifting out of 4x4 much easier in second gear while I am moving than at a stand still in N.

Thanks for the reply. I too have my best luck while in motion.Sometimes I use my foot while applying & releasing the throttle. It works, but there must be a better way. I will check the tranny mounts tho, thanks for the tip.
