My dad has a 1972 F-250 with a Carter 1 Barrel on a 300 6 Cylinder... The thing randomly throttles up when you turn the wheel to the right or when you push the brakes.... however when you turn to the left or hit a bump, it idles back down to normal... any idea why this thing is goin crazy?? The only alteration is a manual choke instead of an automatic one.
sorry that was supposed to say the choke cable isn't anywhere near the carburetor!
The term manualchoke implies it has a choke cable...which is connected to the carburetor.
On earlier trucks that came with manual chokes, the cable fit into the dash, then routed to the carb.
Usually when ppl convert to a manual choke on vehicles that did not come with one originally, the choke cable is mounted to a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the dash.
Honestly I do not know what any of that means! My dad is just tryin to figure out why the truck revvs up on its own, and asked me to post this thread. I am not tryin to step on anyone's toes! I just write what he tells me in response to other peoples ideas :-)
