It's 64 1/2" wide but sits in a slot on either side so you can pull it out. On the bronco it also travels in a track and locks down at the tailgate area

On fox body, and escape, pulling it out winds the spring up to let it roll back up? and has hooks, that went in holes on either side of hatchback latch, I'm measuring guy at works EXP, and see how wide, may be another option for y'alls being obsolete.
