Parts interchangeablity

Where is the best place to find parts interchangeability ? There is a nice F 250 at my local Pick n Pull with some nice looking inner fenders. On the door tag F25YC********* (if memory is any good) what is the year digit on this number? It looks like they are a silver color almost like aluminum, ours on the '71 have been painted but are rusted where the battery sits.

Thanks for any help !!!!

Where is the best place to find parts interchangeability? You have landed in the mother church for Ford truck knowledge, everything you ever needed to know about a Ford truck can be found here.

Chassis parts from 65 to 79 can swap, sheet metal parts 67-72 F100/250 & 4 wheel 350s. This will get you started till the big brain gets here.

There isn't one. The only way to tell what year it is, is by the last 6 digits of the VIN / Last 6 digits: specific serial number.

The portion of the VIN you posted, could apply to any 1966/76 F250.

F25 = F250 2WD

Y = 1966/67 352 2V // 1968/76 360 2V

C = Oakville, Ontario Canada Assembly Plant.

As John pointed out, all 1967/72 F100/350's front sheetmetal is basically the same.

1967's use unique to this year only: doors, dash, firewall, and other cab related parts, the only available V8 is the 352.

The 1967/72 Styleside beds are essentially the same, excepting mouldings, marker lights, nameplates.

If the inner fender aprons are silver (but not painted this color), this truck is prolly a 1973/76, as Ford galvanized the inner fender aprons beginning in 1973.

1967/72's are called "Bumpsides" as they have a raised scallop line midway along the sides of the truck.

1973/79's are called "Dentsides" as they have an indented scallop line along the sides of the truck.

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for $22.00.

The inners will fit you will need to get the brackets that bolt to the cab because Ford made the rib narrower on the 73-79 inners. Its a pretty noticable differents when you see them the 67-72 are like 4-4 1/2 inches wide to the 73-79 like 2 1/2-3 inches wide.Core support will fit also but you would have to drill new holes for the hood latch.
