ABS Connector

Probably don't see this one every day but here we go.

My wonderful 8 month old lab took to laying under my truck on hot days. Did not think much of it. Go out to use the truck and see wires laying on the deck under the truck. After I got on to him I discovered that not only had he chewed all of the trailer wiring out from under the back end, he also got my anti-lock break sensor that runs from the hub to the harness. Chewed the connector good. Wire left on both sides.

My question is this. Can I splice in a junk-yard find or do I need to get a new harness and hub? Seems the auto part stores don't sell the sensor with out the hub. I figure I can find the sensor on a wreacked truck and pull it off whole. Then maybe just attach the other end to the harness.

I would love some advice since it was a wreck that turned me from woodchopper to 1legwoodchopper.

Thanks,
Jason

I spliced the ABS wire on the right front of my truck. One of the plastic clips that keep the wire from getting rubbed by the tire broke and it got rubbed in two. I used a butt splice, sealed it up with silicone and taped it with a lot of good black tape. I repaired the clip to make sure it wouldn't rub again and have been good to go. I've checked it from time to time and it's doing fine. I was lucky, had enough wire to work with without ending up with a short stretched wire. You may not be so lucky !

Good luck, my splice has held up for months so I'm gonna let it ride !
