Fuel Pump Buzzing

Fuel Pump Buzzing
This week while working out some emissions issues, the rear tank fuel pump (dual tanks) started buzzing fairly loudly. When I switch to the forward tank the buzzing stops. I assume that isn't good. Is it about to fail?

If you switched to the front tank and the rear stops buzzing that would make sense. Why would power still go to it if you're running off the front tank?
as far as it going back or not... i have no expert opinion but logically i'd say yes. IMO experience anytime you hear, smell, or see something out of the ordinary it usually spells trouble. Is the rear tank sending unit/pump original? FYI they are a little under $100 from advance but you have to special order. shipping takes only a few days though.

It MIGHT last a long time still, you've got the front tank still so you can replace it when time and money allow or just run the ft tank. If you're gonna go ahead and replace it run the tank dry first, makes the job a lot easier.

A noisy pump cannot be a good thing! When I get some time and better weather, I'll drop the tank and replace the pump. I have some sort of issue with a minor fuel leak at the front tank (only when it is full) as well. May as well look into all of this at the same time.
