Need wiring help with 6 pin plug

2000 F-250 with a 6 pin and 4 pin plug set up.

This connector was on the truck when I got it and so was the 4 pin plug, but I added the 6 pin and electric brake box. The wires in my hand go to the 4 pin.

I spliced into the wires going to the 4 pin for the left turn signal, right turn signal and tail lights. I ran a separate ground wire and brake wire.

Everything works on both plugs except the left turn signal. It doesn't work on either plug. I checked the wires going into both plugs and didn't have power on either of them. I checked the wires on both sides of the plug I am holding in the second picture and do not have power there either. The turn signal works on the truck though. Anyone have any ideas?

You must have a bad wire somewhere in the harness. Try finding the break. If you cant find the bad wire, you could allways steal the signal from the taillight harness!

Agreed, I'd take a look in the harness for a bad wire. Usually they have electrical tape and hose stuff around them.

That's what I was thinking. I just didn't want to spend a couple of hours tracking wires when there might be a common problem that can be fixed in a few minutes.

Had the same problem on my E350.
Trailer lights on the NBS trucks ( and vans ) have there own fuses, that way if it shorts you don't loose it on the truck too.

EDIT: just looked at the pics again. How much rust does it have?

Where would these fuses be? In the same fuse box with all the normal fuses? When I put the test light to the pin sparks flew and then it quit working(I hadn't taped the wires yet because I wanted to make sure everything worked first). My first thought was that two wires touched it blew the fuse, but then I saw that the trucks lights were still working, so I ruled that out. If they have their own fuse, that would explain it.

There isn't any more rust than normal on a truck with 30k miles(a few bolt heads, spot here and there on the frame). The spare tire carrier is covered with rust though(as seen in the 2nd pic)

Speaking of spare tires..... If you haven't checked, make sure you have the right tool to let yours down..... Apparently the SD's spare has a thing like a locking lug nut on it and mine didn't come with the key. I was 400 miles from home going to a job site in the middle of nowhere WV at 2 in the morning with no cell signal before I found that out..... Took me 2 hours to cut the SOB down with a pair of 6" cutting pliers.

Ok, I have one big fuse block under the hood.
It has some large fuses and 4 mini fuses. The 3 mini fuses on the bottom left corner of the fuse block are for the trailer. Not sure about the other.

Mines not like that, I just take the tool and screw it down to the ground.
Extra cost option or after market ad-on by the PO?
Van might not be the same spare hanger.

No problem!

I hope the Pick up and vans are the same. I would think so, but you never know.

.
Yours may be different, but on the SD you use the long rod tool that is under the hood. The end of it has a curved rubber coated tip like a pry bar to pop off the wheel covers. Then there is a tool that slides onto the curved tip that has a key like a locking lug nut has. The Ford dealer told me that was standard on them. I went to buy the wire that I cut and a lock tool and they said it was going to be over $150. So that's why I don't have a spare tire under the truck anymore lol.

Mine has a long rod that folds and gos behind a panel on the right when you open the rear doors. No lock either, but only that tool will do it. Nothing else works.

I just went and checked mine on my lunch break. I still have the factory spare tire instructions. It was only listed for F-series trucks and didn't say anything about vans. It said "if" your truck is equipped with the locking spare tire the key is located in the glove box. When I asked the parts guy at the dealer about it he said all of them came with it. So I'm not sure which it is. I can't imagine something like that being an option, but I have been wrong before. All I know is I cussed everybody that had anything to do with Ford that night lol. I was 20 miles from the nearest town and I was in a part of the state that you do not go ask people for help..... Or even step foot in their driveway.....

Is it just my '03, or do any of you all have the six pin (the one that looks like a big Dzus clip) inside the bed and not on the bumper too?
