Harsh thumping when in 4wd
I have been experiencing a harsh thumping sound/feeling in my 94 ranger when the 4wd is engaged, I am going downgrade (on dirt, snow pack, or regular road), and coasting. The thump jerks the vehicle such that it is a little un-nerving. I have manual locking hubs and manual transfer case. No problems when in 2wd with hubs unlocked or hubs locked. No problems when in 4wd and under power or accelerating. Only when in 4wd and coasting with foot of accelerator. Any ideas?
