Clearing codes or a problem?
I have a 1999 Ranger with a 4.0. the IAC died and while trouble shooting it and then changing it I left the Crankcase vent hose off the air inlet tube where it connects to the MAF. It cause codes 171 and 174, too rich or lean for the PCM to fix and the gas mileage dropped into the teens. Well, it is all back together properly now and the IAC codes are gone, but I can't clear the 171 and 174 codes. So either there is still a problem or I not bright enough to figure out how to clear the codes. Oh and the truck is back to getting normal gas mileage again in the mid 20's.
