Have been having intermitent binding of steering since last Dec.At low speed gets hard to steer and will not return to center without turning it back.I have checked ball joints,brakes and u/joints,replaced damper .I changed fluid 4 weeks ago,and just changed it again because it seamed be dark(not pink, brown) had it to dealer they could not duplicate problem so had no idea what problem is.They checked every thing I did,I asked if pump could be problem. Maybe was response,and would change if I wanted.Any ideas?

Is it 4wd? How did you check the u-joints? They will intermittently bind, making it hard to troubleshoot.
Park with the front wheels turned, hubs out and transfer case in 2wd. Climb under and rotate each u-joint by hand. If one is tight or doesn't turn at all, change it out.
I had the same problem you are describing and it took me months to figure it out. Ended up being the u-joints, which a mechanic 3 TIMES told me were fine.
