My question is about my power steering gear box. There is a leak in it someplace and I have yet to find just where. I bought a used box from a guy on Craigslist. That is fine but it seems good. After further inspection I see the (2) are quite different. My box has a plate on top with (4) nuts holding it on and the adjusting screw sticking straight up and the box I bought is a FOMO box with the screw out the front.
Will the new box fit and can I put the new box on without a major production. Are they interchangeable. Or can I take mine off buy a seal kit and reinstall. Play in the steering wheel is minimal. THX David
Sounds like the one you have is a Bendix unit. I believe they are not interchangeable as far as just plugging and playing. I think you best bet is to take your steering box out get a rebuild kit and rebuild and re-install the unit you have.
