I was curious if anyone could recommend a leather paint or dye that would work on a steering wheel. I just bought a used '00 F250 Lariat with the brown/tan interior and the top half of the steering wheel is really worn.
Why not get one of those leather steering wheel wraps. They have some real nice ones at just about any custom car shop. Plus as it wears you can replace it.
Thanks for the input. I'll try the shoe shop...hadn't thought of that.
I've looked at the steering wheel wraps, and I guess I'm just a little picky! I'd just like to have the steering wheel back in decent looking shape and not have to put anything on it. Doesn't make a lot of sense, I know. Of course, if I can't find a good-looking fix, I will probably end up going with the wrap.
You can get leather dye at tandyleather.com. Make sure the leather is clean and dry, dab the dye on the area and wipe off with a moist paper towel. Repeat this until you get the correct shade. Let the dye dry and apply Super Sheen over the area to seal and protect it.(you get Super Sheen at Tandy Leather also). Hope this helps.
