I did a little searching in this forum...but didn't find what I'm looking for. My wife's '01 Explorer....the driver's door doesn't always unlock when you use the keypad on the door...or the FOB. If you tap either two times it usually will unlock. If using the key, it's difficult to get the lock assembly to turn. We're running the OEM keys, so I know it's not an error with the key. I'm assuming this is the actuator in the door getting old that to blame for the FOB/key pad issue?
Secound, and a little more important...the rear door on the drivers side the lock acts like it's jammed. I managed to get the door open by working the plunger at the top of the door panel...but it still jams when you lock the doors. I took the panel off (after making sure the child lock wasn't on) to see if I could see something a-miss. Nothing looked wrong, the plastic handles are in good shape and both springs are there. I went ahead and put some penetrating oil on the latch thinking something was in it...but that didn't help. Is there a spring or something that I might be missing???? Thanks in advance.
I didn't see any springs loose in the door. Is there one somewhere other than the backside of the plastic handle? It will be this weekend, but I can try to tear the door back apart and look again.
