My uncle has a 1999 GM 2500 4x4 with the 6.5 Diesel.
Actually, it seems to have more get up and go than his 1996 350 gas. (he totalled it)
I guess a gas engine with a turbo on it equals diesel power to GM?
I thought that it was a big improvement until we realized the block was cracked at 45,000 KMS!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A testament to GM owners stupidity:
My uncle crashed my dads 1978 ford 4x4 when it was 9 months old ( see http://members.home.net/mattjibb/history.html)
WE STILL GOT IT!
AND crashed his 1996 when it was 2 years...
Also, every damn GM guy my dad rides with seems to put it into 4 wheel drive after they are stuck!
I was with a group of guys that in the dictionary, you look up FORD and there is their picture. He had a '95 Ford 1/2 ton 4X4 supercab (stock tires). Had a guy show up with the new 2000 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4 supercab. It didn't take long before the cable came out. The steel cable is 1" thick and about 8' long. They hooked them up to the hitches in the back.
Well, the cops got called on this one but not before the new chevy left very long black marks from all 4 tires as it was pulled backwards. Really looked odd because as it was pulled it also drifted sideways. He left about 10-12' of rubber on the blacktop.
