well I had searched around and found different answers, pulled the trigger and ordered some 325/65R18 (34.6"x13" according to tire racks specs) dunlop mud rover maxx tractions for my 2005 350 6.0. It sits with no lift, no leveling kit, had to cut out the rear side of the inner front fender a bit, wasnt hurting anything just annoying to hear at full lock. Clearance is fine between the radius arm and frame/spring/all other suspension components. I plan to add a leveling kit to improve the look a bit, I dont plan on wheeling this as it is my DD/Tow rig. I have my Jeep for beating up in the woods.
heres a few quick pics (if anyone wants more detailed pics I can get them):
Any experience when it comes to towing on these tires. I am looking at upgrades to tires, and want to go a bit larger than factory. I find a lot of stock size opinions, and then lots of oversize non-tow application opinions. And while I know some folks will say not to tow with other than stock tires, I will be doing it, but would love to get some experience from folks.
I looked at those tires specifically, and your truck looks awesome. Honestly, I am surprised a nearly 35" tire doesn't look even bigger. Must be used to my jeep proportions!
I have not towed with this particular setup yet, and probably wont be til mid june when my jeep goes out again. I did however have a 2004 F250, same cab and bed setup but with the 5.4 2v v8 that I put a set of 315/75R16E mud rover maxx tractions on. Those tires measured the same height as the ones on my 350 but were half an inch narrower and had more sidewall height due to the smaller rim. Truck handled the load fine, the physical pulling part hurt a little but for the amount of towing I do it was fine, I expect this to not be much of a difference but I will know for sure in a few weeks. I was surprised as well at how small they still look, I stood back and thought "hmm should have gotten the 37" ones I looked at" Again I am used to jeep proportions as well, though even my wrangler on 6" of lift and 36" tires looks small to me.
Pressure right now is at 50psi front 65psi rear, it was my starting point and will be adjusted accordingly. Might drop the rear down to 50 and then air it up a little when I am towing or have a load in the bed. The tires are rated to hold over 200 more pounds on the load rating than the stock continentals.
